German was Tim’s first love, but he’s fallen for lots of others since!
He spent four happy years studying German and Portuguese at Oxford University. During this time he spent several stints of time in Europe, enjoying a year teaching in Austria and volunteering in Portugal.
Tim went on to work in fundraising for another four years, before fully launching his career in the classroom, completing a CELTA and teaching English in the north of Portugal.
He formalised his teacher training in Gateshead in 2018, gaining a PGCE with QTS in MFL before later adding an MEd in TESOL from the University of Leeds to this.
From 2019 to 2022, he was Middle Years Coordinator and taught French, German and Research Methods at an international school in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. He also began his foray into language mentoring there, and he’s now looking forward to giving more time to this to support other language learners through Language Up.
As well as learning languages, Tim enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts about geopolitics and exploring the countryside of Northumberland in his walking boots.
